BOTH INCLUDED IN ONE PROGRAM

Two skill sets. One connected program.

Practice the technical investigation and security documentation that connect SOC and RMF work.

SOC Analyst skills

RMF Analyst skills

What you will practice

Develop two complementary skill sets: investigate suspicious activity in a security operations workflow, then assess the related control weakness and document a practical response.

SOC investigation and reporting

Security alerts and logs: examine events, distinguish useful evidence from noise, and develop an investigation timeline.

SIEM and network traffic: search dashboards and inspect traffic to understand suspicious activity.

Vulnerability prioritization: consider context and potential impact when deciding which findings need attention.

Incident reporting: communicate the facts, supporting evidence, investigative limits, and recommended next steps.

RMF assessment and remediation

System boundaries: define what is included in the system and where responsibilities sit.

Security controls: connect requirements with implementation details and assessment evidence.

Remediation planning: document weaknesses and explain the actions needed to address them.

ATO and continuous monitoring: understand how assessment and remediation activities support authorization decisions and ongoing oversight.

INSTRUCTOR-GUIDED TRAINING PROJECT

Connect investigation to remediation

01 Investigate

Analyze a simulated incident and explain your findings.

02 Assess

Identify the control weakness and evaluate the evidence.

03 Recommend

Explain how to address the weakness and reduce the risk.

TR-001: Is the successful login legitimate? Correlate identity and activity evidence before concluding.

Finding: Determine whether account safeguards adequately address the observed activity. Do not infer a failed control from the alert alone.

Remediation plan

StepProposed action
01Confirm the weakness
02Strengthen MFA if needed
03Retest the safeguard
04Document closure evidence

Owner: fictional system administrator

Verification: repeat the login-control test and record the result.

Practice with fictional or sanitized data and instructor feedback. Build a portfolio you can discuss in interviews.

TRAINING PROJECT · FICTIONAL EXAMPLE

These illustrative excerpts extend the simulated login investigation above. They are examples of how to explain your work, not completed student work or evidence of employment outcomes.

Case TR-001 — Fictional training system

Observed: 12 failed login attempts at 09:01 followed by a successful login at 09:04. Account activity was flagged for review at 09:07.

Assessment: The sequence warrants investigation but does not, by itself, establish account compromise. Correlate source, device, MFA events and subsequent activity; confirm whether the user recognizes the session.

Next step: Preserve relevant evidence, document the timeline and escalate under the simulated response procedure if unauthorized activity is confirmed.

Portfolio discussion: Explain what you know, what remains uncertain and which evidence would change your conclusion.

Scope: Authentication to the fictional training application and its identity service.

Assessment question: Do account safeguards adequately protect the observed sign-in path?

Evidence reviewed: Authentication-event timeline. Evidence still needed: MFA policy, enforcement settings, exceptions and test results.

Finding status: Open — insufficient evidence to determine whether the safeguard is effective. An alert alone does not prove a failed control.

Portfolio discussion: Explain the boundary, evidence gaps and how the assessment supports remediation and ongoing monitoring.

Proposed action: If testing confirms an MFA enforcement gap, correct the affected policy and review documented exceptions.

Owner: Fictional identity administrator. Target date: To be agreed based on the confirmed risk.

Closure criteria: Test the affected sign-in paths, verify the required challenge, retain configuration and test evidence, and obtain reviewer confirmation.

Monitoring: Review subsequent authentication events and investigate unexpected bypasses.

Status: Proposed; no completed remediation is claimed.

During portfolio and mock-interview practice, explain your reasoning, describe instructor feedback and identify what you improved. Use fictional or sanitized data in work you share.

Beginners welcome. New to cybersecurity? You are welcome to join the Career Accelerator. Tell us about your experience and goals so we can guide your preparation. Independent practice is required alongside live classes.

You can also join a free Saturday class to explore the teaching approach before enrolling.

Lab format: Training includes both browser-based labs and software installed on your computer.

Plan for a laptop or desktop, reliable internet, audio for live classes, and permission to install the required training software.

Before buying equipment, confirm the supported operating system, minimum memory, available storage and required software with CyberAsquare. Exact technical specifications are still to be confirmed.

Reserve Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8–9 p.m. ET, and Saturdays, 9–11 a.m. ET, for live classes. Independent practice is required in addition to these four hours. Ask about the expected practice workload, attendance expectations, missed sessions and holiday arrangements.

Access after the course: Recordings remain available for one year after the course ends. Lab access continues for three months after the course ends.

Your $2,000 package includes one free Security+ OR CySA+ voucher covering one attempt; retakes are not included. Confirm voucher expiration and exam selection before enrolling.
